Call for Participation: The 6th ACM Europe Summer School in Data Science, Applications Due 30 April 2025
ACM, the ACM Europe Council, the University of Ioannina, and the ATHENA Research and Innovation Center invite students to the 6th ACM Europe Summer School in Data Science. The school will take place in Ioannina, Greece from June 30 - July 4, 2025, with a stellar set of keynote speakers and lecturers.
Students will have the opportunity to attend lectures and keynote talks by:
- Sihem Amer-Yahia (CNRS and University Grenoble Alpes)
- Stefania Dumbrava (ENSIIE and Télécom SudParis)
- Bettina Kemme (McGill University)
- Wolfgang Lehner (TU Dresden)
- Volker Markl (TU Berlin)
- Panayiotis Tsaparas (University of Ioannina)
- Yannis Velegrakis (Utrecht University)
The multi-lecture courses address different layers of the data science stack, ranging from systems challenges for modern data science to emerging foundational aspects, including big graph data management, fairness and bias in network data analytics, exploratory data analysis for data-intensive systems, machine-learning based query optimization, data valuation for data reduction and sustainability, sustainable machine learning, scalable big data processing with Flink and NebulaStream.
The school is addressed to early-stage researchers, such as graduate (MSc and PhD) students, postdocs, early-career faculty, and other academic and industrial researchers interested in the diverse field of Data Science. A small number of advanced undergraduate students with the appropriate background may be considered as well.
All courses will take place in the Grand Serai Congress & Spa Hotel, which is located at the heart of the vibrant city of Ioannina, Greece. Located in the northwestern part of the country, Ioannina sits in the center of a valley amongst enormous mountains near a wonderful lake, just an hour from the sunny Ionian Pelago beaches (Parga, Syvota) and the picturesque Zagori mountain villages. An interesting and stimulating social program will take advantage of the historical and cultural identity of Ioannina and complement the technical program of the School.
Attendees will receive an ACM certificate of participation.
Student fees cover part of the tuition costs. The remaining costs (including accommodation, food and beverages during lectures, and social events) are covered by ACM and the school sponsors.
For more information and to apply visit the 6th ACM Europe Summer School in Data Science website. The application process will remain open until the positions are covered. Priority will be given to applications submitted by April 30, 2025.
